Prop-maker/Scenic painter/Street theatre artist
Call and make contact, I love making new connections.
From many years in the theatre industry Nicholas has a range of experience in both building stage sets and how they impact on performers. Involved with Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre from a young age his work has always revolved around the performing arts, story telling and the wish to open minds. Having worked in major venues as well as intimate stages and street theatre across the UK, Europe and in Asia.
As a multi skilled maker Nicholas has created artefacts and props from many different materials; timber, metal, polystyrene, cloth, he is also skilled in printing techniques for signage and fabric. Crossing from performer to prop-maker gives insight into how the human body can bring inanimate objects to life.
Below is a breakdown of specific experience.
Prop Maker, Scenic Painter, Set Construction and Installation, Puppet Maker, Costume Design,
Model Maker, Draughtsman, Graphic Designer, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Crafts Instructor
Full Drivers License, Public Liability Insurance, DBS Check (till 2017)
"Nick is imaginative, thoughtful and a good team member. He is an effective communicator, quick to understand a brief, what is required to make things happen and ensures the work is finished to a high standard. He worked as graphic designer and draughtsman for Sustrans on Portrait Bench, a community public space project where I relied on him for a willingness to be flexible with all concerned and accuracy with the final profiles.
A big thank you."
- Sustrans, Art Director
"Nick Hallett is a rare talent. His work has a direct, felt connection to the liveness of his subjects. We are always thrilled by his responsive, beautiful, unusual, and sensitive images. Watching him in a shoot is a dance in itself.
He just gets it - an artist with both discretion and a shrewd eye – he’s always the one we want to capture the magic.”"
- Micheal Bennett, Joymagnet Street Theatre
